This day was the most magical day in India. It started with a road trip (with a goat) to the Kamakhya temple. What is unique about this temple that it is built on top of a cave. Worshipers wait in line to go into the cave and touch the holy water. We take a goat each time and release it (he will live a long and happy life). While we were there monkeys were EVERYWHERE. We really had to hold on to our stuff tight - quite an interesting experience. After this temple we got on a boat to visit another temple. I loved that ride. I stood on top of the boat with my cousin, Loni, we felt so free and happy.
The best part of the trip? It was only the women in the family and we had a blast on the road. Loni was heckling men as we passed and I couldn’t stop laughing. We were laughing so loud, people in cars turned around to look at us. Nothing makes me happier than when I laugh, and I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. This was one of my happiest days and I will never forget what it felt like. There was love, magic, spirituality, connection, and joy. Thank you Loni for giving me one of the best days of my life. You are a gem. I love you so much and wish I could always be around to look after you - although you don’t seem to need it.

Color is a focus of my work for a variety of reasons, but the main reason is for healing. My father was an angry and violent man. He took out his rage on his family daily and I took it upon myself to protect my mother and brother from him by becoming the focus of his fury. We didn’t have much, but my mother filled our home with colorful art to bring radiance into an otherwise dark place. I followed in her footsteps and escaped into vibrant art of all shapes and forms. Getting into the flow of mindful art creation has been the single most important part of my healing. I hope to share the happiness that colorful art brings me with others, especially children.
